The Bride of Frankenstein Stitched Art.

For one of my brothers' birthday this year, I made him a bride of frankenstein related piece of art.
He is a huge horror movie buff and I knew he would be more than stoked to make this apart of his art collection within his house.

I started off by creating the silhouette of her portrait using my hand stitching through the canvas. I then created a frame out of cardstock paper and added stitched frame corner details. To top it off, I held the frame down with gold push pins, which then acted as great finishing accent.

He loved it :)

I am now apart of The Humber Alumni Family!

I had my convocation on June 20, 2013 and officially graduated from the Interior Decorating Diploma Program :) Felt good!! I had such an amazing two years and met some of the most creative, inspiring, and fun people I now know!

Time to start the next program: Architecture Technology ;)

And! My mum and I made it to the Humber Facebook page! Haha! :) <3

Soar Through The Skies

Father's Day Gift:

My paps' hobby is Remote Control Aircraft (RCA) and so for this years Fathers Day, I decided to craft a piece of plane related art.
I incorporated my favourite style with the "stitched art" (See blog post: Feb 23) to create the idea of soaring through the sky. I added 4 planes flying towards you with some script and an accent compass. There are a few things that I would change with this overall piece (the position of the compass and the writing), but you live and learn.

DIY Décor Tea Towels

New Birthday Present Project: Décor Tea Towels

I started off by just going through what fabric I had laying around that needed to be used. Well, within that fabric, I decided to make décor tea towels. The kitchen to which these towels now belong too has a beautiful creamy beige colour dominating throughout with accents of brown/black and a deep rose red. So I put together a very calm light grey on one side and a soft black on the reverse. Accenting with the deep rose red and the creamy beige with felt appliqué flowers and petals/leaves.

Mum's Tea Cozy for Mother's Day

For this years Mother's Day, I made my wonderful mum a new tea cozy for her kitchen :)

I originally got the idea from the book called, "Appliqué Your Way", written and crafts done by Kayte Terry. It's a great book and I recommend it to anyone who loves adding a little extra appliqué of fabric, colour, or texture to any item. From shoes, to a bag, to a tea cozy, it's a great way of perfecting your hand sewing abilities as well.

So, for the tea cozy I made, I started off by using the stencils that are given to you in the actual book,

I used a great pinstriped polyester fabric that I knew would be strong to hold up in the washing machine (silly tea stains). This pinstriped fabric is the tea cozy itself and then the small appliqués are a small navy blue, polka dotted polyester and a brown, plaid durable flannel.

I hope you like it! I highly recommend using appliqués in your projects because they add a very creative but minimal detail to the things you love.
